Help Scout is a remote-first company, with 105 employees working from 80+ cities all over the world to build helpful, human customer service tools. Our mission is to grow our world class team full of diverse, talented people that are united by an enthusiasm for great products and being helpful to others. We’re also a Certified B Corporation!
As our second in-house recruiter, you’ll partner with our managers to find amazing new teammates that help move the business forward. You will manage the full recruiting lifecycle across a variety of business areas and roles, and do what is needed to ensure we are leading the way in candidate experience. About the role
Hiring excellent people is the most impactful thing you can do for our team. You’ll work closely with hiring managers to define the role, source talented & diverse candidates, and oversee the entire hiring process until a candidate signs on the metaphorical dotted line.
Providing an exceptional, high-touch candidate experience will be your top priority. While we track time to fill and time to hire data, our main goal is that even candidates who don’t get offered a job will be inspired to recommend Help Scout to a friend. You’ll keep an eye out for areas of improvement in order to always improve the experience for our candidates.
Our hiring managers love being hands-on, but will look to you to shepherd the process, provide insight from your years of successful recruiting experience, and offer guidance when appropriate.
Managing a hiring process for a remote team is no joke! This job requires superhuman organization and communication skills to keep things running smoothly. You’ll spend a lot of your time in Slack, in Lever, on video chat, emailing candidates, and can transition between all mediums with ease.
You’ll help track and analyze hiring metrics to assist with reporting to the wider company. You’ll also continuously source candidates for challenging positions and future opportunities.
About you
This is not your first recruiting rodeo! You have a genuine passion for recruiting, and have been part of an in-house Talent Acquisition team before. You’d feel comfortable owning your own hires, running kick-off meetings, and juggling 5-6 open roles at once.
You’re a people person and get energized by meeting new people. You go out of your way to foster connections between people and understand that great recruiting means relationship building.
You’ve interviewed plenty of candidates, have a few sourcing wins to share, and have ideas about creating outstanding candidate experience.
You’ve been told you’re an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing. You know the impact of emoji and can adjust your tone depending on your audience.
You’re excited when you see companies prioritizing DEI initiatives and feel passionately about infusing DEI into recruiting and hiring philosophies. Advocacy for DEI in this role is a must.
You’re adaptable, patient, and collaborative — hiring can be a roller-coaster and you’re comfortable bringing everyone along for the ride.
You believe remote teams are the future of work, or are at least curious about being part of a remote-first team. It’s a bonus if you have experience working with and hiring for remote teams.
To ensure sufficient overlap with your teammates, we're looking for candidates that live in UTC-5(East coast US) and UTC-7(as far as Seattle) time zones.
Bonus points if you have experience using Lever for hiring, but familiarity with any ATS will be translatable.

About Us
Help Scout is made by roughly 110 people in 80+ cities around the world, all with a passion for helping others. We come from diverse backgrounds and are united by an enthusiasm for great products and delightful customer experiences. Help Scout launched in 2011 and today we have more than 10,000 paying customers in 140+ countries.
Why Help Scout? We're remote. It doesn’t matter if you’ve worked remotely before — we’ve been doing it for nearly a decade and are helping to write the playbook — we’re happy to show you the ropes. Most folks that get a taste of working in a "remote first" company have a hard time going back to the old way of doing things.
We’re passionate about diversity and inclusion. The data is abundantly clear about diverse teams being more successful, and we're dedicated to setting the team up for success. Today our leadership team is 62% women, and that's just the start. Here's our DEI Dashboard where you can see all of our team demographic data and read about our commitment to this work.
We're committed to SMBs for the long term. Help Scout is focused entirely on serving small and midsize businesses, typically up to 500 employees, because those companies view customer service differently. It's not a cost to be optimized, it's their most effective marketing tool and a key differentiator from the competition. We built Help Scout for companies that truly value being customer-centric (like us) and want a product that shares their values.
We're leaving the world better than we found it. Did you know Help Scout is a certified B Corporation, with a mission to give away at least 1% of our product through Help Scout for Good? Our company exists not just to help ourselves, but to invest in our team, our customers, our community, and our environment.
Our commitment to you
We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to building a company that embraces and celebrates diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We have read the studies and understand that diverse teams build better products, bring more perspective to the table, contribute to a company’s financial success and help foster a more inclusive environment for all employees, but the bottom line is that it's the right thing to do.
